In Carmarthenshire there are several services available to help support people to live independently in their homes for longer.

As part of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, the local authority must provide, or arrange, ‘preventative services’ to assist with this vital social care need.

One of the support services within Carmarthenshire includes Information, Advice and Assistance (IAA) which forms part of Delta Wellbeing - a centre of excellence for Technology Enabled Care (TEC), based in East Gate, Llanelli.

The company, set up in 2018, operates as an independent trading company owned by Carmarthenshire County Council. It involved the transfer of the council’s former Careline service, which had been in operation for over 30 years.

Telecare is considered one of the most valued preventative services promoting self-care and wellbeing to enhance independent living for as long as possible. If a person appears to the local authority that they may have care and support needs, they could be entitled to a FREE assessment via the IAA service.

Following this assessment, if it’s identified their needs can be supported through a preventative service channel, a suitable care plan can then be drafted up and reviewed annually.

One of those plans may be supported through the telecare services provided by Delta Wellbeing who ensure all customers, whether referred via the council’s IAA service or private clients, receive the best advice on how the latest technology can improve their independence.

Through partnership working, including staff, and awareness of the most up-to-date technology, this enables bespoke care solutions to then be developed for customers helping them maintain independence for a wide range of needs.
